Brooke Bofill is a graduate of Stony Brook University, with a Bachelor of Arts in sculpture and print making; with a minor in cultural anthropology. The works created are strongly influenced from the environmental surroundings of Eastern Long Island, where she was born and continues to live, and also from her extensive global travels from the early 2000’s to present day. A common theme that runs through her works, is forced structure, grid like flows (drawn from maps and cities) with applied color to create mood and emotion. Another concept or reoccurring theme is attachment or lack of and instead maybe artificial attachment.
Making sculptures, working three dimensional, was the first medium explored, and proved to be a form of therapy and meditation, to get completely absorbed into large scale projects. Creating a visual representation of a feeling, whether tension and anxiety, or organic harmony, free of restriction. These concepts and ideas coexist and transcend through sculpture, prints, photography and mixed media.
